St Nicholas CEVC Primary School is committed to ensuring all children achieve their full academic potential and believe that good attendance means good learning. The positive impact that regular attendance has on a child reaching their full academic potential and the benefits this brings to emotional and social well-being is considerable.
Children who miss out on their learning miss out on future life chances.
If children have the following attendance consistently in each year of school the impact is profound. This could have an adverse impact on their education and their opportunities.
Attendance | School Weeks missed | Education missed |
95% | 20 weeks | Half a school year |
90% | 40 weeks | 1 school year |
85% | 60 weeks | 1.5 school years |
80% | 70 weeks | 2 school years |
Our expectation is that children are in school for at least 96% of the school year, please support us in providing the learning opportunities your children deserve.
We ask all parents to inform the school before 8:35 am on the first day of absence and to send a letter to the class teacher on the day their child returns from absence.
The Office will phone/contact parents on the same day of absence if the parent has not contacted the school.
Repeated or unexplained absences will be followed up by our Attendance Officer- so it is important to keep school informed.
Children are asked to be punctual. The register will be taken at 8:45am. Lateness and absence will be noted on the child’s Annual School Report.
St Nicholas are committed to children’s learning and wellbeing.
